Sonic is stoked to be the New Zealand distributor for Nordic Kayaks.
Nordic Kayaks are a Swedish company, dedicated to the development, manufacturing and marketing of state-of-the-art surfskis, made with prepreg and autoclave technologies, a process often used for the space industry and F1 race cars.
Using a combination of CAD and traditional drafting skills, along with valuable input from experienced elite paddlers and designers, Nordic Kayaks first build and test prototypes to confirm the theoretical data. Once the optimum design is achieved, NK specifies the best materials along with cutting edge manufacturing technology, to provide you with one of the lightest and fastest sufskis on the market today.
High pressure (up to 4 x atmospheric) and heat from the autoclave, together with the pre-impregnated carbon fibers, give our surfskis an unmatched composite lamination, resulting in extraordinary light, yet strong construction. Pre-preg and autoclave technologies are superior to other techniques, such as vacuum infusion or other hand lay up processes, that are mostly used for other kayaks.
NK was founded in 2006 in Vaxholm on the Swedish east coast, by Fredrik Lindström and Peter Bringby. Disappointed with the multi-sport kayaks commercially available at the time, they set about designing and hand shaping their own, building on extensive experience of all kinds of fast kayaks since the mid 90s, from Olympics K1s to multi-sport kayaks and surfskis.
